How we think

How Entrida scores your UK readiness.

We publish our methodology because the market rewards precision. Here is what feeds the score, what the score can tell you, and where we stop.

    THE FIVE PILLARS

    What we score

Every Entrida analysis scores your UK readiness across five dimensions. Weights vary by industry — a construction SME and a food SME are scored on the same pillars, but the weights shift.

    FIVE PILLARS
    Illustrative profile
    • Market Fit82/100
    • Commercial Readiness88/100
    • Compliance76/100
    • Operational Readiness79/100
    • Financial Readiness70/100
    01 · Pillar
    Market Fit
Is there UK demand for your product at a price that works? Grounded in ITC Trade Map bilateral flow data, UK sub-sector growth from ONS, and industry-specific benchmarks.
    02 · Pillar
    Compliance
What UK regulatory hurdles apply to your product, and how ready you are to clear them. Grounded in HMRC Trade Tariff, GOV.UK regulatory feeds, and sector regulators (FSA, MHRA, UKCA, REACH, IATF).
     · Pillar
    Commercial Readiness
Route to market, channel fit, pricing and positioning for the UK buyer. Grounded in competitor scans, Companies House filings, and sector-specialist input.
    04 · Pillar
    Operational Readiness
Logistics, customs, EORI, Incoterms, lead times, and the operational backbone behind your first UK shipment. Grounded in HMRC customs data and freight benchmarks.
    05 · Pillar
    Financial Readiness
Landed cost, VAT exposure, working capital, and the capital model behind a 12-month UK entry. Grounded in HMRC tariff and VAT schedules.
    WHAT WE READ

    Live sources, read at run-time

Entrida reads authoritative data at the moment the analysis runs. If the duty rate changes this morning, your assessment reflects this morning's rate — not last quarter's cache.

    GOV
    HMRC Trade Tariff
UK import and export tariffs, commodity codes, duty and VAT rates, preferential origin rules.
    GOV
    Trade Map
UK corporate filings, active-vs-liquidated status for partners and competitors, directorships.
    GOV
    Office for National Statistics
UK market size, sub-sector growth, trade-flow benchmarks, consumer spending data.
    GOV
    GOV.UK regulatory feeds
UK regulator updates, compliance guidance, and sector-specific rule changes (FSA, MHRA, UKCA, APHA, HSE).
    INTL
    ITC Trade Map
International Trade Centre bilateral trade-flow data — used for origin → UK corridor statistics.
    FIELD
    UK sector specialists
In-market specialists across food, cosmetics, textile, automotive, construction and export law. They calibrate the sector modules so outputs reflect how UK regulators actually operate on the ground — not how the rules read on paper.
    CONFIDENCE GRADING

How we flag what we know and what we don't

Not every input to the score is equally reliable. Each finding carries a confidence grade so you can weight it in your own decision.

    01 · HIGH
    Direct from primary source
Values read at run-time from HMRC, Companies House, ONS or GOV.UK. Verifiable the same day by the reader.
    02 · MEDIUM
    Specialist-calibrated inference
Findings built on sector-specialist rules and sub-sector benchmarks. Grounded, but not a direct reading of a single source.
    03 · LOW
    Indicative estimate
Ballpark outputs where inputs are incomplete. Useful for direction, not for contract-level decisions. Flagged explicitly in the report.
    WHERE WE STOP

    What Entrida does not claim

An honest methodology has to name its limits. Here are ours.

    • Entrida is guidance, not legal or tax advice. Where the analysis flags a regulatory or tax question, the answer should be confirmed with a qualified advisor — several are in the partner directory.
    • Entrida reads published data. It does not know what is inside a UK buyer's procurement contract, a freight broker's spot rate, or a customs officer's discretion on the day.
    • Entrida does not sell the analysis as a guarantee of entry. Pricing decisions, relationship quality and timing sit outside any pre-entry read.
    • Entrida does not replace UK in-market execution. The analysis tells you where to aim; execution still has to happen on the ground, often with a partner from the shortlist.
